Performance Poetry show for ages 8+ based on the British Child Migrants’ Scandal
Drawing on real-life stories, One Way Ticket is a gripping show co-written and performed by myself, Rosemary Harris and Justin Coe. It follows the stories of Jeannie, Ronnie and other children of the 1950s as they are sent by ship from children’s homes in the UK to tough new lives in Australia.
‘The poetry is phenomenal, full of puns and personality. Through language, it struck a chord with something that cannot be put into words, and that’s why everyone should buy a (one way) ticket and go.’
Children’s Theatre Reviews, 2014
We originally toured the show to ships and theatres in the South East, funded by Arts Council England, and most recently we performed at Shoreditch Town Hall and the V&A Museum of Childhood.
